Big Brother 28 Veto Recap: Paranoia, Fake Tears, and Broken Bathtubs

Last night's Big Brother 28 Power of Veto episode gave us early-season paranoia at its absolute finest. Factions are already splintering, desperation is setting in, and a few houseguests just earned a permanent spot on my app's "Disliked" list.

Here is how the chaos unfolded last night, and what we need to look out for on tonight's live eviction episode.

The Desperation of Melody

The fallout from HOH Dee's initial nominations sent shockwaves through the house. Mallory completely crashed out after being hit with the block, which immediately panicked her closest allies, Lyric and Melody, who desperately wanted to avoid being guilty by association.

But while Lyric handled it with some strategic reserve, Melody went into pure, unfiltered panic mode. She completely threw Mallory under the bus to HOH Dee, claiming she had "no allegiance" to her. Dee, however, saw right through it, noting in the diary room that Melody's desperate scrambling only proved how guilty she actually was.

To make it worse, Melody then cornered Drew to make a final-two "number ones" alliance pact to save herself. Drew smiled to her face but immediately told the diary room that his loyalty is 100% with the Crossovers, and he is strictly using Melody as a clueless informant.

This wasn't clean, smart game-distancing — it was sloppy and desperate. Because of this, Melody has officially been marked as "Disliked" on the BB Season Tracker roster.

Jason's Gross Manipulation of Angela

If you thought Melody's behavior was bad, Jason took things to a genuinely gross level.

Earlier in the episode, Jason went to Angela, completely turned on the waterworks, and weaponized a story about his upbringing to manipulate her emotional, "mom of the house" instincts. He completely admitted to the diary room that he was intentionally faking the tears to make Angela emotionally attached to him so she would protect him.

Fortunately, this gross strategy backfired spectacularly. Drew — acting as the ultimate double agent — exposed Jason's secret "Court Jesters" alliance and his plan to backdoor Rick Devens directly to the Crossover alliance. Once the truth was out, Angela stayed incredibly strong, vowing in the diary room to play him back twice as hard.

Manipulating people with fake emotional trauma on Day 4 is a garbage tier strategy. Jason has officially earned the 2nd "Disliked" badge of the season on our app.

Bathtubs and Bad Plumbers

For a quick bit of comic relief, we have to talk about Angela Murray literally breaking the HOH bathtub. She went for a luxurious soak, hit the plastic a little too hard, and cracked it, leaving Dee to pray that the tub is the only thing Angela destroys during her HOH reign.

Later, we got the "Back From the Future" Veto competition, featuring a highly entertaining time-travel cameo from BB legends Dr. Will Kirby and Howie Gordon. The competition required houseguests to connect time tubes across the yard. While Taylor comically struggled like a terrible plumber ("Do I look like a plumber? It makes no sense"), Mallory clutched out a massive, much-needed win over Yash to secure her safety.

The Veto Ceremony & The Backdoor

With Mallory winning the veto, she obviously took herself off the block. Dee had to name a replacement nominee, and she used the "diplomatic" logic of targeting the people who didn't get to compete in the initial safety games. That left Barrett and Ashley. Since Barrett is in Dee's core Crossover alliance, Ashley was officially named the replacement nominee.

Dee thinks this low-profile move keeps the heat off her back, but the lines in the sand are fully drawn.

Tonight: The Live Eviction & The BB Blockbuster Comp

Going into tonight's live episode, our final block is locked in:

• Ashley
• Taylor
• Yash

But remember, the block isn't entirely final yet. Before Julie Chen Moonves calls for the live vote, these three will face off in the new BB Blockbuster pre-eviction competition. Yash is already fired up to win it and prove he's the boss.

Whoever loses that competition is in serious trouble, as the Crossover alliance currently holds all the numbers to send their target packing.
